Carol Tanner says
Sharon Tanner had a heart bigger than most. So if she loved you, you knew it.
If she loved you, she would do just about anything for you. Sharon would tend to you when you were ill, pray for you, encourage you to be your best, worry about you, defend you, drive miles to visit you, mull over considerably ways a problem you had might be solved, and occasionally try to share with you her wisdom.
If she loved you, Sharon Tanner would celebrate life’s big moments with you, make sure your birthday was recognized, cheer you on, gift to you whatever she could (which was sometimes precious one of a kind knitted treasures) bake you chocolate banana bread, or just be ready with a smile and hug at any moment.
She was devoted to her husbands, her brother, her cousins, and many others. She was, of course, a devoted Mother to three children. Having a heart bigger than most, she opened her heart tenfold and loved both Lou Tanner and his entire family. So she was their Mother always, and she was our Mother too.
Because her heart was bigger than most, she was also one of the world’s most devoted grandmothers, and great-grandmothers. For years to come, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her entire extended family will come to understand how much she treasured them.
Sometimes the words didn’t come out right, she readily admitted, but Sharon loved her family and friends with all she was.
With a heart that big, Sharon Tanner was a also passionate, forever friend to many. She loved time with friends to share a movie, a meal, a Bible study, knitting, or just good conversation. Sharon loved to laugh with her friends, yet if needed, was willing to cry with them instead.
And if that was not enough, this gentle soul had compassion for the downtrodden. She yearned for a better life for many and hated to see suffering. She gave what she could to help ease the pain of others. She worshiped at her church and prayed the entire world would follow the teachings of Jesus.
Today this kind-hearted soul is surrounded by pure love, peace and joy –both from the love she shared and received here on earth and from the love we know she is surrounded by in Heaven. Today, if you loved Sharon Tanner, she knows it.
