Petty Officer Third Class Madison Temple Landers, born September 25, 1987 died Sunday August 26, 2019. Madison was born in Anniston, Alabama and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Supply Chain Management from Auburn University in 2010. In 2018, Madison joined the United States Navy ultimately earning the rate, Fire Controlman Aegis Three in May 2019.
Madison is survived by his parents Katy and Carl Goodgame of Pell City, Alabama and Tim and Maureen Landers of Apopka, Florida and his sister Lisa Landers of Savannah, Georgia. Madison also leaves behind his much loved labrador, Rosie.
Madison adored his friends and family, often being their biggest champion and greatest advocate. He never missed an opportunity to bring people together, connect with his loved ones, and check-in on those he cared about.
As a child he enjoyed playing sports and loved to fish and golf. He graduated from Apopka High School in 2006 where he was a member of the golf and tennis teams. He was a movie buff loving all things superhero, sci-fi, or fantasy.
One of Madison’s favorite pastimes was sitting around the bonfire at his parent’s house and watching Auburn Tigers Football. He could almost always be found wearing orange and blue and could be heard shouting “War Eagle” to anyone nearby. His love and passion for the Tigers was indisputable and was shared with the Auburn Family.
After college, Madison spent time working in the private sector but never let go of his dream to serve his country. In March 2018, Madison graduated Naval Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois. He immediately began training for Fire Controlman ‘A’ School where he ultimately graduated with honors and earned Combat Systems ‘A’ School “Best of the Best” twice. He transferred to the AEGIS Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Virginia in November 2018, where he completed two courses, Fire Control Systems Military Specialist and Fire Control Systems Ballistic Missile Defense. Madison took pride in being a Seaman, believing “Non Sibi, Sed Patriae” – not for self, but for country.
A visitation for Madison will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Loomis Funeral Home in Apopka, Florida. He will be buried at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

My heart is with yours. When I lost a loved one someone wrote to me, “We never lose our loved ones. They accompany us; they don’t disappear from our lives. We are merely in different rooms.” May your wonderful memories of Madison stay with you, and may you feel comfort he would extend to you, as well as from friends, family, surrounding angels, and the Lord above.

I haven’t seen Madison in years but lots of memories came flooding back when I heard the news of his passing. Many a time when he was in JrHigh I took a car load ((Madison included) to ballgames, movies, pizza, etc. he was always such a fun kid. Happy! And singing Walking on Sunshine in the back of the car to the top of his lungs. I remember he always talked about being an astronaut. hated I didn’t get to know him as an adult. Many prayers for all of you.

I didn’t know Landers for the longest time, and I cant say we were much more then acutance’s. But every memory I have with him I reflect on with pride and admiration. We were all young sailors, and Madison was always one to take the lead and help any one of us in any situation. I will remember him in every step I take in my military carrier and for the rest of my life.
