Kevin Andrew Fisher, 54, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. He is survived by his daughter, Kendall Deanne Fisher, New Smyrna Beach, FL and son, Houston Blackwelder Fisher (Lacey), Eustis. He is also survived by the Mother of his children and best friend of 37 years, Wistee Fisher (Jimmy), Apopka. Kevin also leaves behind his Mother, Marlene Fisher, Father and Stepmother, Joseph and Sharon Fisher, Brother, Keith Fisher (Jill) and sister, Kimberly Morse (George). Kevin leaves behind a granddaughter, Brynley Brooke Fisher, 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
Kevin was born on October 30, 1963 in Eustis, Florida and was a lifelong resident of Apopka. He graduated from Apopka High in 1981. During his high school years, Kevin was a standout baseball player. He continued his love of the game playing on several softball leagues for years following high school. Before starting his family, Kevin took advantage of the outdoors every chance he could. He was a member of a hunting lodge in Salt Springs, Florida and was known as an avid marksman. He loved deep sea fishing in the Bahamas for yellow fin tuna and snorkeling for fresh lobster. Kevin was a lifelong Gator fan and enjoyed several years as a season ticket holder. His passion for the Gators took him to the Championship game and to the Sugar Bowl. He coached Apopka Little League baseball for many years, including coaching his daughter, Kendall’s softball team.
Shortly after High School, Kevin moved to California and to Colorado. He worked with his Uncle John Thompson for a gold mining company for 2 years before returning home to Apopka. In 1983, Kevin went to work for High Reach Company in Orlando as a hydraulics technician, working on boom lifts, scissor lifts and other heavy equipment. He was well known in the industry as one of the best troubleshooters and his reputation for training procedures. He was self taught and remained diligent in educating himself and training others in the industry.
After 17 years with High Reach Company, Kevin made a career change and started in the Automotive Industry in 2000. His late brother in-law and friend, Brian Tallman, was in the business and encouraged, taught, advised and supported this new role. Kevin started with Kissimmee Toyota with David Maus and ultimately with David Maus Toyota in Sanford where he remained until late 2017.
He earned a solid reputation as a “great used car guy”. He was fiercely loyal to his friends in the business.
Kevin’s foremost accomplishments were his children, Kendall and Houston. He beamed with pride as he watched them grow into selfless, productive and accomplished adults. Not only a proud Dad, Kevin was a loyal friend and advisor to them. He relished on their work ethic and their love of family. He loved them both deeply.
