I send my thoughts and prayers to your family. I wish I had been able to talk to you in the years since I graduated. I would have told you how much you meant to me. I would have told you that you taught me to love learning more than any other teacher I had. I would have thanked you for caring so much for your students and I would have told you that I spent 30 years of my life teaching due in large part to the fire you lit in my soul. Hope to see you again on the other side.

I am so saddened to hear of Mr. Starkey’s death. He was my Introductory Physical Science teacher at Glen Este Junior High in 1969-70. And Mrs. Starkey was my French teacher that year! I have wonderful memories of both of you. Please know that Mr. Starkey was beloved by many students and we all mourn his passing.
