Norma Jean Delcher, 74, of Apopka, Florida, passed away June 26, 2019. She was born August 27, 1944 in Rushville, Indiana.
She was a woman of many talents. She was a gifted artist, a published poet and loved to paint and draw. She was an amazing singer/songwriter, played the guitar and accordion, worked as a singer in her 20’s and 30’s and shared her love of music with her children and family. She was a great seamstress and made beautiful clothes and crocheted creations. She was also a fabulous cook and loved to host family holiday dinners.
She was saved as a child, loved the Lord and made sure that her children knew Him.
She was devoted to her family. She said her greatest job was being a Mom. She loved being a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a sister, an aunt and a friend. Her children tell us that they are who they are because of their Mom. If you met Norma, she was sure to tell you about her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Martha Hatfield, siblings Charlie O’Dell, Hazel Kennedy, Bill Hatfield, Vertie Cowan, Geneva Perkins, Dottie Atkinson and Ernie Hatfield, and her husband Jim Delcher, Jr. She is survived by her seven children Carmen (Kevin) Clark, Susan (Leon) Kitts, Nancy Chase, Cindy (Jeff) Haynes, Janey (Ricky) Briggs, Eric (Kim) Chase and Trevor (Susannah) Chase, 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Many people have told Norma that she was blessed to have such wonderful, supportive children, but if you ask them, they will tell you that they were blessed to have Norma for their Mom. Her family is thankful to have so many wonderful memories with Norma. She will be missed by her family and friends. God called Norma home on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

My condolence to you Nancy and your family. It is hard to say goodbye to a loved one at the end of their journey on this earth. But remember, she will always be with you and this is not goodbye forever, this is just for a short period. One day you will see her again. Just know that she is wrapped up in the loving arms of the Lord Jesus Christ and she is smiling and looking on you and the rest of the family that are left here on earth.
Just know that we here at work are not just your coworkers and friends, but we are all family and you can rely on us for anything at anytime. We are always here for you throughout the happy and sad times. The Lord is watching over you and comforting you, know that when you only see one set of footprint in the sand, that doesn’t mean that its you alone on this journey which we call life, but that set of footprint means that Jesus is carrying you and he is embracing you. He is closer than you think.
If you ever need anything at all, no matter what it is or what time of the day it is, reach out and let me know. I am here for you.
Love you!
