William Byron Owens Sr.

July 26, 1950 — May 1, 2025

William Byron Owens Sr., a cherished father, devoted husband, and beloved friend, passed away on May 1, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on July 26, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bill's journey began in a community filled with the warmth of family and friends. He spent his formative years surrounded by his loving parents, Jacqueline and Frank Owens, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion.

In 1979, Bill relocated from New Jersey to Florida in pursuit of new opportunities. It was here that he found his passion for his long career at The Wall Street Journal, where he dedicated over 30 years as a mailroom foreman. His commitment to excellence earned him recognition, including a Gold Star Award for groundbreaking work in machinery fabrication.

In 1992, Bill met the love of his life, Trudy Lower. Their deep connection blossomed into a beautiful relationship that culminated in marriage in 2016, a union filled with laughter, love, and mutual respect. Together, they navigated life's adventures, united by a shared love for the open road, evident in Bill's passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and his skillful cooking, where he delighted in out-cooking Trudy's friends while sharing his culinary secrets.

Bill leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through his wife, Trudy; his dear siblings, Ferne Ingram, Edwyn Wydra, Jim Bremmer, and Debrah Cook; and his cherished stepchildren, Steven, Nick, and Audra. He was also a proud grandfather, with a heart full of love for Marissa, Jackson, Nicholas, and Ashton. Although he faced the sorrow of losing his son, William B. Owens Jr., the bonds of family remained strong, with cherished memories carried forward by his nieces; Michelle, Jamie, Danielle, Hailey, Kealee, Jacqueline, Lillian and Annabella and nephews; Jim and Brian.

Bill was known for his adventurous spirit, finding joy in riding his Harley, fishing, and sharing the thrill of shooting firearms with family and friends. He had an infectious smile and a kind heart, leaving a lasting impact on all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Bill will forever be missed but never forgotten, living on in our hearts and guiding us in spirit. Bill was preceded in death by his father; Frank Owens, mother; Jacqueline Owens and son; William Owens Jr.
