Verna C. Riley

Verna Opal Colclough Riley passed away in Tavares, Florida on June 6, 2026 at the age of 104.

She was born in Independence, Kentucky on May 16, 1922 and raised her family there before moving to Florida.

She is survived by daughter, Janice (Edgar) Martin of Mount Dora, Florida, son Richard Gordon Riley, of Oberlin, Ohio, granddaughter Wendy (Robert) Greer, of Fort Pierce, Florida and great-granddaughter, Tiffany Martin of Umatilla, Florida.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, George G. Riley, of Gainesville, Florida, father, Richard Edwin Colclough, mother, Effie Ellen (Stephens) Colclough, sister, Wanda Berkshire of Edgewood, Kentucky, brother, Richard Colclough of Dayton, Ohio, grandson, Douglas Martin of Sanford, Florida and great-grandson, Cameron Martin of Sumterville, Florida.

Verna worked for many years as a church secretary. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Apopka, Florida.

Services will be held on June 18, 2026 at Loomis Family Funeral Home in Apopka, Florida. Visitation begins at 10:00am and funeral service will start at 11:00am with interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Gainesville, Florida at 2:00pm.
