In Loving Memory of Terry Lynn Smith

July 13, 1952 – April 24, 2026

Terry Lynn Smith, a woman of quiet strength and a heart that bloomed as brightly as the gardens she tended, passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 73.

A Life Rooted in Family

Born at Fairmont General Hospital in West Virginia to Lonnie and Clara (Brady) Pethtel, Terry spent her formative years in Fairmont before finding her long-time home in Zellwood, Florida, where she resided from 1974 until her passing.

Terry was a woman who understood that the simplest things in life were often the most profound. She dedicated her career to working in a plant nursery—a job that was less of a profession and more of a reflection of her soul. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by the quiet beauty of nature and the animals she so dearly loved.

Simple Joys and Deep Wisdom

When she wasn't outdoors, Terry found peace in her favorite pastimes. Whether she was meticulously painting statues, challenging herself with a word search, or playing a quiet game of solitaire, she moved through life with a gentle, focused grace. She cherished the competitive spirit of "Horse," a favorite family game, and enjoyed the comfort of her favorite television shows.

To those who knew her best, Terry was a pillar of deep wisdom. She built a life centered entirely around her family, offering a kind of love that was both selfless and enduring.

Terry is survived by a large and loving family who will carry her memory forward:Children: Kim Malcolm, Della Dykes, Todd Combs, and Kelsey Smith.Grandchildren: Brandon Malcolm, Kyle Ellison, and Raelyn Ellison.Great-Grandchildren: One beloved great-grandchild, with another expected soon to carry on her spark.Siblings: Carley Pethtel and Allen Pethtel.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Clara Pethtel, and her siblings, Lonnie Pethtel, Linda Hollands, and Barbara Thompson.
