Robert Lee “Bob” Hippleheuser

September 15, 1933 – May 31, 2025

Robert Lee Hippleheuser, affectionately known as “Bob,” passed away peacefully at his home in Clermont, Florida, on May 31, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on September 15, 1933, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Bob lived a life marked by dedication, leadership, and vibrant connections. He proudly served his country in the United States Armed Forces, serving on active duty from June 23, 1954, to February 27, 1956.

A respected figure in the Indiana business and motorsports world, Bob was president of Hulman & Company, former owner of the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. During his tenure, he played an instrumental role in the development of the speedway’s original museum and led the company’s marketing initiatives. His passion for racing brought him into contact with countless famous fans and drivers, as well as prominent country music and performing artists; one of his fondest memories is a meeting with Paul Newman. Bob's love of music was ever-present, with favorites including Paul Robeson, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, and Frank Sinatra.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Hippleheuser, who died in a tragic car accident, and his second wife, Ruth Hippleheuser, his son, Alan Hippleheuser, and his dear friend, Jane Lindsley. In his later years, Alejandra Fiorino shared a deep and close friendship with Bob.

Bob is survived by his brother, Maurice Hippleheuser, of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews residing across the country.

Robert was a man of faith and a member of the Baptist tradition. His legacy is one of loyalty, quiet strength, and a deep connection with the many people whose lives he touched. His remains will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The service will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in his memory to a veterans organization or charity of your choice.
