Mr. Ray Junior Nifong

Ray Junior Nifong, 99, of Apopka, FL passed away on September 25, 2025 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Thomasville, NC on May 10, 1926 to William Ray Nifong and Mary Mae Clodfelter Nifong. He is survived by his loving wife Carol Ann Nifong and his children Gilda Nifong and Anita Nifong Rash of Thomasville, NC, as well as two step-sons Dennis Newton and Gary Newton of Apopka, FL., nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby Lee Nifong and Joe Carlton Nifong, of Thomasville, NC and a son Mark Anthony Nifong of Wilmore, KY.

Ray graduated from Davis Townsend High School in Davidson County, NC and from Kernersville Bible College in Kernersville, NC with a degree in divinity. He was a pastor for many years before moving to Florida where he owned and operated Ray’s Furniture Frame Shop until he retired at age 55. He continued to be active in his local church and taught Sunday school for many years and was active in the senior group “Prime Timers” at his church.

Ray enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling. Over the years, traveling took him into 49 of our 50 states.

Ray was fun to be around, always had a joke to tell or some kind of wise advice to pass along with humor mixed in. He will be dearly missed by his many loved one and friends.
