Philip Wayne Barns

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Philip Wayne Barns, who left us on April 7, 2026 in Orlando Florida, at the age of 78. Born on November 17, 1947, in Newton, Iowa, and raised in Hartland, Wisconsin, Philip graduated from Arrowhead High School and attended the Art Institute of Chicago. He moved to Florida in 1973 and had a successful wallpaper and painting business for many years.

Phil was passionate about nature and the outdoors. He was especially knowledgeable with birds and could identify by sight or sound. He also had a great love for the Green Bay Packers as well as college basketball.

He will be greatly missed by his son, Timothy Barns and daughter, Auriel Barns as well as four grandchildren. Philip is survived by his sisters Lisa (Jim) Summa, Erin Alles, and Doyne Barns as well as many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. 

Philip’s life was marked by his love for friends and family. Known for his dry and witty sense of humor, and sunny disposition, he touched many lives along the way. His legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. 

Philip was preceded in death by his parents: Burdette and Capricia Barns.
