Jim had a soft spot for his furry friends, treating them like the valuable family members they were. Mossy and he would sit on the porch while Jim had his morning coffee or were often found out back in the yard,

Jim was a dedicated and hard worker. He worked as a coal miner before becoming a truck driver. Recently he worked as a commercial painter with Stewart Commercial Painting, making friends with his coworkers who gave him several fun nicknames, such as Jimbo and Old Man.

Jim will always be remembered for playing cards and cooking, especially his homemade gravy. We’ll always imagine hearing him say “put coffee on” one more time.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents James Bartley Sr and Corrie Hatfield, his daughter Dawn Bartley, his sister Angela Cook, his brother-in-laws Ronny Manning and Terry Manning and his sister-in-law Vicki Lane. He is survived by his family including his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving in-laws and a host of friends.

We couldn’t have asked for a better husband/dad/papaw and friend and will miss Jim every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Services will be held Saturday February  24 at Loomis Funeral Home, viewing at 10am and service at 11am. Northside Baptist will host a fellowship following the service.
