David Swanston Smith, 76, of Apopka, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on October 20, 1943. As a young man he served in the U.S. Army and worked at Kennedy Space Center, in the early years of the space program. He later worked for several years as a Supervisor for Continuous Electronic Circuits. He loved camping, fishing, music, and the beach. He was a passionate Georgia Bulldogs fan and never missed a chance to say, “How ‘bout them Dawgs?” He was very loved and will be greatly missed.
David is preceded in death by his parents William and Elizabeth Smith and brother Robert “Bobby” Smith. He is survived by his children, Leah Michelle Smith of Tampa and Justin David Smith of Orlando, his sister Eleanor Mortimer of California, and his longtime love, Sheila Barnes of Apopka.
