82 years were not enough for Allen. He had retired from his job as Warehouse Manager of a Steel business. He had spent great times with family and friends in the North Carolina Mountains and special times at his place in Astor on a canal on the St. Johns River. He just needed more time to do those things again.
Allen loved being with family and friends. He could fix things and he had the tools for most jobs—many times family and friends called on Allen to fix something and he was right there to help. Allen was a dear, kind man who was loved by family and friends.

Wanda Spradlin, Mike and Lori says
Allen was a sweet kind hearted man. We loved him. My husband,Ray , Allen and Ann and His Sister In Law, Glenda Donovan went to Glenda’s home in NC each year
For several years. The last time we were there
Almost 3 weeks. Loved it! Ray and Allen found little projects to do. Repairing, painting, whatever!
Never a disagreement They enjoyed every minute
Of it. When we started out. We put our money together,
Allen kept it in Glove compartment and he was our Secretary. All Reciepts went in there and Allen
Kept Record. We Thoroughly looked for our time
And Enjoyed it. Allen was a Great Man.
Very Much Loved. Hopefully, He and Ray are
Up There trying to think of a new project. Probably
Sitting on a river bank and pulling in the Fish.
Will Be Hreatly Missed!. Love You Allen
