Allan Tallman went to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 29th, in Apopka, FL, at the age of 86.
Allan is survived by his son, Wayne, daughter-in-law, Loraine, two grandchildren, Christine and Christopher, and one great-grandson, Carter. His wife, Frances, passed in Apopka, FL in 2010.
Allan was born on March 24, 1930 in Homestead, PA to H.G. and Hazel Tallman. Upon graduating from Apopka Memorial High School in 1948, Allan was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served as a Private during the Korean War, stationed in Korea. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, Allan returned home to Apopka. Over the course of two weeks, he drove to West Virginia, asked his high school sweetheart, Frances Hamilton, to marry him, and the two were wed on January 19, 1954. They were together for 56 years.
After returning home, Allan continued serving his country by working for the United States Postal Service. He retired from the USPS after 33 years. Allan also exemplified service in his personal life, serving as a deacon and elder at both the South Seminole Church of Christ and the Apopka Church of Christ.
He is remembered by all for his love of God and his family. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell about Korea, his grandchildren, or life “when I was your age.”
Services will be held at Loomis Funeral Home in Apopka, 420 W Main Street, on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10:00 am. Visitation will take place at the same location on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm. The family would like to thank Allan’s caregivers at Brookdale Senior Living for the love and care they provided.
