Michael Dean Lay of Lockhart, Florida, passed away on October 30, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Michael was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and dear friend to many. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially watching football and cheering for his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. He loved cooking, fishing, spending time with family, and making Christmas special by giving gifts to those he loved.

Above all, Michael treasured the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready to make someone laugh with a joke or a playful remark. His warmth, kindness, and love for others made him a special part of everyone’s life.

But what many people will remember most about Michael was his smile. It was a reflection of the joy he carried in his heart and the happiness he brought to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Lay; his mother, Barbara Hurley; his brother, Steven Lay; his sister, Tanya Mercer; his children, Rhonda Giddens, Kimberly Garavuso, and Ronald Poole; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

Though Michael’s time here has come to an end, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the smiles he inspired will never be forgotten.

Funeral services for Michael will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ocoee Church of God in Ocoee, Florida.

Interment will follow at Edgewood-Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, Florida.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Michael’s life, share memories, and honor a man whose smile and love will remain in their hearts forever.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and never forgotten.
