Mary Ito Nodurft, 92, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, and treasured family memories.
Born in Maui, Hawaii, Mary was proud of her Hawaiian heritage. An accomplished hula dancer in her younger years, she later served in the United States Air Force, where she met her beloved husband, Wayne. Their love story blossomed into 58 wonderful years of marriage. Mary also enjoyed a fulfilling career as a researcher for the United States government.
Affectionately known as Granny or Gigi, Mary was sweet, funny, strong, and wonderfully spirited, with a quick wit and a generous heart. She loved traveling, especially cruises, playing cards with friends, and sharing stories. An extraordinary cook and legendary baker, her oatmeal raisin and Christmas cookies were famous among family and friends. She had a special gift for making people feel loved, often through a thoughtful gesture or something delicious from her kitchen.
Above all, Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment with her daughter, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren, whether spending afternoons at the pool, collecting seashells at the beach, or simply being together. She taught those around her that love is best expressed by making time for the people who matter most.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Waynette Sarrells; granddaughters, Tina and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Justice, Annabelle, Zoë, and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Nodurft, and her parents, James and Alice Ito.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Monday, November 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Loomis Funeral Home, followed by interment at 2:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery.
Mary will be deeply missed, but her laughter, her famous cookies, and the countless ways she made others feel special will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
