Marilyn Faye (Ferrell) Short entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 12:05PM. She was holding the hand of her loving husband of 75 years, Edwin Short, and surrounded by her family as she passed through the valley of the shadow of death and moved gracefully into her new home in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born in Middletown, Ohio on July 23, 1931, she was the daughter of Arvid L. and Anna D. (Craig) Ferrell. On November 03, 1950, she married Edwin Short. Faye spent her life nurturing her faith and mentoring young woman in her congregation. She sang in the choir at the First Church of God in Middletown, Ohio. She embodied compassion and hope. She was passionate about sharing the love of Jesus with others. A loyal servant of God, Faye spent many hours dedicating her life to being a prayer warrior, praying for others.
She worked in her own beauty salon in her home in Monroe, Ohio for several years until 1971 when she and her family moved to Orlando, Florida. She worked at Ivey’s Dept Store in Winter Park, Florida for 13 years in the accounting department. Then she went to work at Orange County Public Schools Food Service accounting for 10 years and retired in 1996.
She taught Sunday School in Middletown, Ohio. She loved the hymns she sang in church. She accepted Jesus as her savior as a teenager and was baptized. Her favorite scripture was Phil. 4:13… “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
“Be still and know that I am God” – Psalm 46:10
“And you shall seek me and find me, when you shall search for me with ALL your heart” – Jeremiah 29:13
"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."– 1 Corinthians 13
