Maria Soledad Varela

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Soledad Varela, who departed this life on December 4, 2025, in Apopka, Florida at the age of 87. Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico, on August 20, 1938, Maria was a vibrant spirit whose love, dedication, and warm heart touched everyone she encountered.

Maria devoted much of her life to her work as a sewing machine operator in the manufacturing industry, where her skill and craftsmanship were a source of pride. Despite having only completed the 8th grade, her determination and resilience shone brightly throughout her life, inspiring those around her.

Maria is survived by her beloved daughter, Rosa Varela; her cherished grandchildren, Mireya Smith, Genesis Clemente, DJ Rodriguez, Alicia McDaniel, Carmen Lagarez and Marisol Norwood. As we gather to say our final goodbyes, let us celebrate the life of Maria Soledad Varela—a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend—whose warmth and kindness will forever resonate in our hearts.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Carmen Ortiz and husband Oscar Varela.
