Lori Jean Grice

Lori Jean Grice, age 66, of Apopka, FL passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025 at Advent Hospice House in Altamonte Springs, FL. Lori always called Apopka home, even after living across the country and abroad. For a brief time, she made a home in Asheville, NC, where she met her life partner, Nancy. Lori attended Apopka High School and eventually received an Associate's Degree in Business from Valencia College. She worked as a hairdresser at Hairbenders, and eventually retired from the Orange County Commissioner's Office where she worked as an Administrative Assistance and Technology Trainer. Lori was creative, and always the life of the party. She possessed an extraordinary talent in always being everyone's cheerleader. Everyone that knew her would be inclined to say she had a knack for empowering uplifting others. She loved her family and friends fearlessly. She was an amazing cook, loved entertaining, and shared a passion for music with her son. Lori was always funny... and those of us who knew her might've called her "sassy"!

Lori is survived by her life partner Nancy Barbee; son, Spencer Grice; mother, Jean Grice; brother, Bill Grice; niece and nephew-in-law Amanda and David Wedel respectively. She is preceded in death by her father William Cole Grice; infant son, Cole Hawley Grice, and grandparents.

A private graveside service is being held on Saturday August 16th. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Advent Hospice House in Altamonte Springs, or the NICU at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies.
