Mrs. LaVerne Schwitzgoebel, daughter of the late Elizabeth (Roewer) and Charles Louis Ostermann, was born on May 22, 1925 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She was united in Holy matrimony to Alvin Joseph Schwitzgoebel on October 23, 1948. Together they traveled to Florida and made their forever home in Apopka.
LaVerne's mother, Elizabeth, migrated to the United States from East Prussia in 1901 and in September 1913 married Charles. They raised their Ostermann family in the Lutheran faith. LaVerne publicly confessed her faith as a young child in Sheboygan. Throughout her adult life, she actively participated in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Apopka playing piano, singing in the choir, various women's groups and as a Sunshine Lady sending cards of encouragement. For many years, she was employed as a secretary for John's Nursery in Apopka.
She shared her life with four sisters; Dorothy Elizabeth (Sanville), Lucille Violet (Perrault), Evelyn Violet (Duberstein), Dolores Elaine (Arens) and one brother, Harry (Harold) Eugene Ostermann, all raising their families in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
On June 10, 2026, LaVerne gently slipped into the arms of our Lord, whom she obediently followed all 101 beautiful years of her life. She will be remembered forever by everyone she met as trustworthy, responsible, kind and faithful.
As LaVerne wished, her ashes will be placed next to her husband's in the Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
A fellowship luncheon of remembrance will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Apopka, Florida at a later date.
