John Thomas Davis, age 85, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024. Born and raised in Central, South Carolina, John moved to Sanford, Florida, with his parents and siblings as a young man. He served his country in the Army from 1962-1964 as a Deuce Truck Driver, delivering military equipment in Germany. After returning home to Sanford, Florida, he worked as an Automotive Machinist for Miller Machine Works until a brain aneurysm and stroke in 1971 left him partially disabled. Despite this, John never let his illness slow him down.
John was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, known for his passion for life and unwavering purpose. An avid fisherman, his love for bass fishing was a defining part of who he was. He found tranquility in the early morning mist of the water and joy in sharing tales of his most memorable catches. Saturdays in the fall were equally cherished as he proudly supported his Clemson Tigers, demonstrating the same dedication and enthusiasm he applied to all aspects of his life.
John is survived by his siblings, Steve (twin), Heller, and Joella; his four children, Joseph, Christine, Melody, and Michael; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. His family will always treasure the warmth, wisdom, and humor he brought into their lives, and they will continue to honor his legacy of love, laughter, and the simple joys of life.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on September 6, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Loomis Funeral Home in Apopka, FL. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering a life well-lived and to share stories and memories of a man who lived with passion and loved deeply.
