James Nelson Rutter Jr., known affectionately as Jim, passed away on December 9, 2025, in Tavares, Florida, at the age of 79. Born on October 14, 1946, in Trenton, New Jersey, Jim grew up in Hamilton Township, where he graduated from Hamilton High School West.

Jim dedicated his career to being an Iron Worker, taking pride in his work across the Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Trenton, and Orlando areas. He was a proud member of the Iron Workers Unions 399 in Atlantic City and 68 in Trenton, New Jersey. His commitment to service extended beyond his profession; he bravely served in the Coast Guard from 1964 to 1968, stationed at Norfolk, Virginia, Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and performing isolated duty on Marcus Island in the Pacific Ocean.

Jim was passionate about many aspects of life, including family, organizations, friendship, service to his country, and his faith in God. He was known for giving his all in everything he undertook, and his remarkable dedication made him a cherished figure among family and friends. His contributions to his community included volunteering at the Enterprise Fire Company and Colonial Fire Company in Hamilton, New Jersey. He also organized several golf tournaments and charity events for the Elks and fire companies, showcasing his commitment to service.

An avid sports enthusiast, Jim enjoyed golf as well as supporting the Eagles football and Phillies baseball teams. His affiliations with the Bordentown Elks #2085, Apopka Elks #2422, and Zellwood Veterans and Associates, as well as the American Legion, reflect the spirit of camaraderie he fostered throughout his life.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Rutter; his children, Lori Gordon of Lakeway, Texas, and Eric Perkuhn (Claire) of Hamilton, New Jersey; and his cherished grandchildren, Ava Perkuhn (Gordon), Aiden Perkuhn, and William Perkuhn. He also leaves behind several adored nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved cat, Pepper, whom he affectionately referred to as his baby.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Rutter (Beck), and his father, James Nelson Rutter, Sr. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future as a tribute to the legacy he leaves behind. Jim's kindness, passion, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
