Hylton Augustus Green

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Hylton Augustus Green, who departed this life on September 2, 2026, at the age of 81.

Hylton was born on September 29, 1944, in Jamaica. He later moved to Washington, D.C., where life brought him to the place where he would meet his soulmate, Orvil Joyce Green. They met while working together, and their relationship grew into a beautiful love story that led to marriage and a lifetime spent building memories together. 

Hylton and Orvil shared a special love for cooking. For Hylton, cooking was more than a profession—it was a passion and a gift. He was a talented Master Chef, and throughout his career he proudly worked at the Hilton Hotel for many years and later at the University of Maryland, College Park. His dedication to his craft and his love for preparing food were a meaningful part of who he was. 

But Hylton was much more than a chef. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a man whose life was woven into the lives of many, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Hylton leaves behind his beloved wife, Orvil Joyce Green, and a loving family that includes his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends. 

He is lovingly remembered by Hylton Beale Green and his children and grandchildren; Barbara Green Salvatore and her child; Keneisha Brown-Skeine and her three children; Waddle Dunn and his children, including Ruben Dunn and Curtis Cormack, along with his other 14 kids and 27 grand kids, Christopher and Carlese Minott and their children, Gregory and Rico; his sister, Dorothy Green Brown, and his brother, Bull, along with many other relatives and loved ones. 

A Grandson’s Special Love 

Among the many beautiful memories left behind is the special bond Hylton shared with his grandson, Gregory, affectionately known as Greg. During Hylton’s final days, Greg was able to tell his grandfather that he loved him—and Hylton was able to hear those precious words. 

Those final moments between Greg and his grandfather are a gift that will remain in his heart forever. In life’s most difficult moments, sometimes the greatest expression of love is simply being there—and Greg was there.

 A Legacy of Love

 Although our hearts are broken by Hylton’s passing, we are grateful for the life he lived and the love he gave.

We will remember his passion for cooking, his dedication to his family, his stories, his laughter, and the countless memories he created throughout his life. His legacy will continue through his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. 

Hylton may no longer be with us in person, but the love he shared will never leave us. His memory will live on in every family gathering, every story told, every recipe prepared, and in the hearts of those who loved him. 

Mr. Green, you will truly be missed. 💔 

Rest peacefully, Hylton. Your work here is done, but your love and legacy will live on forever.
