Harold Wayne Thomas, 89, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Alan Thomas; mother, Sarah Ruth Thomas; and sister, Dorothy Harden.
Wayne was a 1953 graduate of Apopka Memorial High School. He faithfully served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for 60 years at Trinity Baptist Church in Apopka.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish, hunt, travel, and share his faith with anyone willing to listen. He began his professional journey as Vice President of Orange Electric in Orlando and later became co-owners with his wife of Ivy Lane Nursery, where he worked until his retirement.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy K. Thomas; two sons, George Thomas (Sandi) and Hal Thomas (DeeDee); two daughters, Susanne Love (Chris) and Linda Balestrieri (Jim); one sister, Martha Yurke; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. In honoring his memory, we find comfort in the words of Ephesians 2:8–9:
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
