Elsie Louise Van Vranken

Elsie Louise Van Vranken, lovingly known as "Flora," passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on September 2, 1936, in Hoagland, Indiana, she spent her vibrant life in Zellwood, Florida, surrounded by the love of her family.

Flora was the beloved wife of WB "Dutch" Van Vranken, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert William Van Vranken II, and her cherished great-grandson, Dre Fisher.

Flora leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion, survived by her four devoted children: Gerrit (Teri), Debra (Curt), Kitt (Myron), and Ellen (Tom). She was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a treasured great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in nurturing and supporting each of them.

Flora embraced life with a spirit of adventure and determination. After dedicating her early years to being a full-time mother, she returned to nursing school at the age of 48 and became a Registered Nurse, making an indelible mark in the healthcare industry. Her compassion for others was evident in her work and her caring spirit. She loved to travel and, at the age of 70, she earned her motorcycle license, embarking on unforgettable journeys across the U.S. and Canada with Dutch by her side. Flora was also passionate about cruising, with plans for one last voyage later this year.

Her travels took her to remarkable places, including a pilgrimage to Israel, where she walked in the footsteps of Jesus and his disciples. Above all, Flora lived her life walking with her Savior and has now reunited with Dutch in the arms of Jesus.

In these moments of bittersweet sorrow and fond remembrance, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Flora Louise Van Vranken, whose spirit and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and cherished forever.
