Edith Joanne Swain

Edith “Joanne” Swain, 91, of Sorrento, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Jamestown, New York, and raised in Sheffield, Pennsylvania, Joanne built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. Alongside her beloved husband, Jack Swain, with whom she shared 74 wonderful years of marriage, she proudly owned and operated Swain’s Nursery for 35 years, nurturing both plants and relationships throughout her community.

Joanne’s passions reflected her vibrant spirit — she was an active member of the Mustang Club of America and the Antique Car Club, and she found joy in gardening, cooking, and bird watching. Her greatest delight, however, was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness and laughter.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Swain; her daughter, Sheila Labrada; her granddaughter, Stacy Labrada; her great-granddaughter, Emmaline Labrada; and her sister, Jane Jowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merton and Evelyn Slack, as well as her siblings Jerry Durham and Carl Slack, who welcomed her home in Heaven.

A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Loomis Funeral Home, located at 420 W. Main Street, Apopka, Florida 32712. Friends and family are invited to attend and honor a life well-lived.
