Dr. Paul Vernon Howell, devoted husband, faithful son, beloved father, and Papa, passed away last Thursday and has been received into the arms of the Lord. He was 63 years old.
A man of deep faith, through a life of service and devotion, Paul lived his life on mission. As a husband, father, and Papa, Paul lead his family well, providing a pillar of faith and wisdom, guiding us through this life, while always leading us toward the next.
A teacher and coach for 30 years, many at Apopka High School, his alma mater where he graduated as salutatorian, devoted himself to the young men and women of this community, imparting knowledge and guidance to several generations of students and athletes.
Living a mission laid on his heart at an early age, pastoring everyone he encountered, Paul left a lasting impression and a loving memory as he walked through his life. From the pulpit Sunday morning, behind the lectern in his classes, through drills and a whistle on the field, as we sat in our house, while we walked by the way, as we lay down and as we rose up, he pastored us all.
Paul is survived by Julia Howell, loving wife; Edward and Patricia Howell, honored parents; Keith and Teresa Howell, esteemed brother; Laura and Jason Caperton, Stephanie and Matt Gregory, Michael and Jessica Howell, Phillip and Amanda Howell, cherished children and spouses; and 14 grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
He walks the streets of gold—without pain, without sorrow, without grief—forever with our Lord Jesus Christ, and awaits our arrival to walk with him once more.
As a celebration of his memory, he will be honored with a service at First Baptist Mount Dora on April 25th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to The Gideons International to provide bibles to the nations.
