Carmen Lydia Salvat, age 80, of Apopka, Florida passed away on November 25, 2025. She was born in St Thomas, Virgin Islands on January 3, 1945.
Carmen spent her formative years living in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Philadelphia, PA. After her divorce she moved from Philadelphia to St Croix, US Virgin Islands in 1977, where she lived for 40 yrs. She worked for Hess Oil/ HOVENSA refinery as an Accounts Payable Manager for almost 3 decades until she retired in 2007. In 2016 she moved to Apopka, Fl to spend more time with her daughter and family. She is survived by her daughter, Ivette Salvat-Gronauer, son in law Scott Gronauer, her grandsons, Dr. Justin Gronauer and Jeremy Gronauer, wife Cayla Gronauer, Sisters Nancy Dariah (Denis) and Sylvia Nieves and brother, William Vasquez. Her nieces and nephews, Tony Zurita (Gladys), Benjie Zurita (Debra), Marcelo Nieves (Jatna), Tara Lyn Garvey, Johnny Nieves (Damaris), William Richardson, TaraAnn Vazquez and Niesha Vazquez. She is also survived by her Goddaughter Lizbeth Rodriguez; aunts and uncles, Lydia Torrens, Leoncio Feliciano, Carmen Carrion, Luz Monell, Angel Luis Felciiano (Iris), Joaquin Feliciano and Mirta Perez Feliciano, and close friends Michelle Martinez and Barbara Guerra.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luisa Feliciano de Bonano, Justino Bonano and Cesareo Vazquez.
In St Croix, Carmen always loved going to the beach and attending or participating in the local parades because she loved to have a good time and was always the life of the party.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held on January 24, 2026 at the Loomis Family Funeral Home in Apopka, FL at 11am. Her ashes will be taken to St Croix. In lieu of flowers, you can donate to the Queen Louise Home for Children in St Croix (run by Lutheran Social Services) where Carmen donated to their Kayak for Kids fundraiser each year and loved to attend the event by cheering the kayakers, especially her friends Luther and JT.
