Billy Mansfield Suggs, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on May 1, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by those who loved him deeply.
Billy was born on June 7, 1965, in Pensacola, Florida, to John and Darlene “Dolly” Suggs. He grew up in Winter Garden and graduated from West Orange High School. Earning a golf scholarship, he pursued higher education which led him to become a golf pro post college, continuing his lifelong passion for the sport. From an early age, Billy was known for his warmth, charisma, and unwavering work ethic, qualities that were evident in all he did.
Billy found success in many endeavors—from building a thriving flooring business to earning accolades on the golf course. Yet, for all his achievements, nothing brought him greater pride than his family. He adored his wife, Katie, with his whole heart and was endlessly proud of his three children—Heather, Michael, and Madison.
It was in his role as “Poppa” that Billy was the proudest. His five grandchildren—Amelia and Brooks Murray, and Lorelai, Blakely, and Dawson Suggs—were the center of his world. Whether he was down on the floor playing at their level, surprising them with the biggest stuffed animal at the theme park, or acting silly just to hear their laughter, Billy's joy was never more genuine than when he was with them. His stories, playful nature, and boundless love will live on in their hearts always.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, John and Dolly, and his brother, Danny Suggs. He is survived by his wife, Katie Suggs; his children, Heather (Tim) Murray, Michael (Mallory) Suggs, and Madison Millikan; his cherished grandchildren; his sister, Debbie (Louie) Gross; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Known for his generosity, loyalty, and charm, Billy’s impact is etched into the lives he touched. He was a constant source of strength and joy—a man who made the ordinary feel extraordinary.
A tribute of Billy’s life will be held on Friday, May 9th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club. All are welcome to attend and share in honoring his memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family is working to establish a golf scholarship in Billy’s honor and will welcome donations in the near future.
