Mrs. Arlyce E. Andrews

August 11, 1936 — June 15, 2025

Arlyce passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at the age of 88. Born on August 11, 1936 at home to Gilbert and Olga Pederson of Newfolden, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; James “Jim” C. Andrews, Jr., and 3 brothers; Gerald Pederson, Bertyl Pederson and Vernon Pederson.

Arlyce was a strong Christian woman who was committed to her family, filled with compassion and a supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed not as she is but for her lifetime as the woman, mother, wife and friend she was. She worked as a legal secretary for years to support her community and never allowed any unethical practices into her work. Arlyce also looked out for the underdog and spoke up when others wouldn’t. Even though she was a working woman, she always made time for her important roll as wife, mother and friend. Her boldness in her deep faith and love of her Savior enabled her to counsel many through her years.

She grew up in northern Minnesota on the family farm, graduated from Newfolden Community School in 1954 and went on to attend and graduate from Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND in 1955. While living in Grand Forks she met the man of her dreams on a blind date. Jim and Arlyce were married on November 27, 1960 and had 61 happy years together. When Jim retired after 21 years of military service in 1971 from the U.S. Air Force they moved to Apopka, FL. Arlyce spent 52 years as a legal secretary and paralegal with most of those years working for Johnie McLeod, Attorney at Law, and later for his sons; William and Raymond McLeod of McLeod & McLeod. She retired in 2008 but kept busy with tending her flowers, creating beautiful items to give to others from her amazing skills in knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing. If you went to visit her, you didn’t leave without receiving something special she had made.

Arlyce is survived by son, Jason Andrews, of Apopka, FL, daughter, Elaine Christensen (Michael Christensen) of Powhatan, Virginia, 3 granddaughters; Elizabeth Christensen (Preston McDowell) of Gerlach, Nevada, Allison Christensen (Preston Blair) of Yorktown, Virginia, Rachael Horn (Jason Horn) of Amelia Court House, Virginia and 3 great-grandchildren; Riley Christensen, James Blair and Justin Horn.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10 am, on June 24, 2025 at Loomis Funeral Home, 420 W. Main Street, Apopka, FL with interment following at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at 12:30 pm.

The family invites you to join them for a luncheon after the burial at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 261 South McGee Avenue, Apopka, FL 32703.
