Obituary

Archibald Tanner Scofield III passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, in Mount Dora, Florida, at the age of 91.

Born on November 28, 1934, in Larchmont, New York, Tanner lived a full life that spanned nine decades. His journey took him from his hometown of Larchmont to Ohio, then to Fort Myers, and eventually to the Orlando area, where he built a career in sales with.

Tanner proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and is a Korean War Veteran. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge.

Tanner was a man of many interests and even more collections. If something could be collected, there was a good chance he had it. He enjoyed cheering for the Florida State Seminoles, birdwatching, history, reading and spending time tending to his garden and plants. While he often insisted he didn't want another pet, it never took long before the newest cat or dog snuck in and completely won him over.

He shared his life with his beloved wife of over 40 years, Cathleen Pugliese Scofield. He leaves behind his daughters, Joslyne Hart and her husband, Wes, and Sierra Stankiewicz and her husband, Johnnie. He was a proud grandfather to Tessa and Emmy Lou Hart, and Sean Archer Stankiewicz, who brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Archibald Tanner Scofield V, Archibald Tanner Scofield IV, and Glenn Scofield.

His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the lessons he passed down, and the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6803 Old Highway 441, Mount Dora, FL 32757. Following Tanner's wishes, cremation has taken place.

In lieu of donations, the family welcomes flowers as a thoughtful expression of sympathy.
