Maureen Hopper Sumlin, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, with family located in Russell Springs Kentucky, and Apopka, Florida, passed away Aug 1, 2018 at her residence. She was 52 years old.
Maureen was born January 31, 1966 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to parents, Marion and Kathy Hopper. She was the Grand Daughter of the late Estill and Lucy Hopper of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Nat and Jo Ryan of Apopka, Florida.
Maureen was a Para Professional at Wolf Lake Elementary School in Apopka, Florida. She was loved and respected by all the teachers, faculty, children and parents. She was a helper for all the teachers and faculty. She also was in charge of the car rider line for drop off and pick up of the children in the morning and afternoon for school. Maureen knew all the names of all the children and parents who used the car line.
Survivors include her life partner Dan Denney of Altamonte Springs, Florida. Her son Jacob Sumlin of Apopka, Florida. Her daughter Emilee Sumlin of Apopka Florida. Her father and mother, Marion and Kathy Hopper of Apopka, Florida. Her sister, Mary Jo Hutsell (Barry) of Sorrento, Florida Her best friend Katherine Houben (Brian) of Mt Dora, Florida. Her father in-law Joe Sumlin of Apopka, Florida. Her Uncle Cameron Hopper (Faye, deceased) of Russell Springs, Kentucky. Her Aunt Betty Lunsford (Dale) of Russell Springs, Kentucky. Her Aunt Nancy Blalock (Ed Taubensee ) of Apopka, Florida. Her Aunt Mila Hopper (Edwin, deceased) of Russell Springs, Kentucky. Her Aunt Barbara Hopper (Lewis, deceased) of Brandon, Mississippi. Her Uncle Stan Neathery (Maria) of Ottowa, Canada. Jacob and Emilee’s father Allen Sumlin of Apopka, Florida. All her many cousins who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving Grandparents Estill and Lucy Hopper of Russell Springs, Kentucky, and Nat and Jo Ryan of Apopka, Florida. Her Uncle Jarvis Hopper (Anna Lee, deceased) of Russell Springs, Kentucky. Her Aunt Doris Wade (Okla, deceased) of Russell Springs, Kentucky. Her Aunt Patricia Neathery of Russell Springs, Kentucky. Her Aunt Martha Hopper of Russell Springs, Kentucky.
The visitation was held at Loomis Funeral Home in Apopka, Florida on Monday August 6, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral services were held at The First United Methodist Church in Apopka, Florida on Tuesday August 7th, 2018 at 11am. Followed by a burial at the Edgewood-Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, Florida. Pastor John G. Fisher officiating.
Pallbearers were, Tanner Hutsell, Jeff Hiers, William Neeley, Jeff Lahr, Rick Bailey and Bo Adkins.
