We are so sorry for your loss, Kelly will surely be missed. I would run into her around town once in a while, and she was always so happy and pleasant, willing to help. We remember driving around in car with Jamey and Jess in back seat with our daughter Danielle, singing songs. We and the community share your loss, Kelly was a wonderful and caring officer.

Kelly Jo or as I called her KJ, was like a big sister to me. She always offered sound advise and was a good should to cry on. She always had a word of encouragement and support. She was a roll model to many including me. Sometimes I would stop by the pd when she was working for one of her Kelly Jo hugs. Her infectious smile and laugh will be missed by many. I miss my dear friend so much already. Rest easy. We have it from here. Prayers for your family and friends and of course your fellow officers. Sorry for your loss.

Kelly Jo, a friend from 20 years ago, we kept in touch via Facebook but had recently agreed to meet up again. I can’t explain that I felt the need to see you again and was so looking forward to that. I can see your smiling eyes and cheeks like it was yesterday. You were one of those people that had this “light” about you – and it’s not just posthumously stated – it was real. My son Drew and I spoke about how real your love light was and how the world is a little darker for losing the light that emanated from your beautiful soul. I don’t cry for everyone but this day I cry for our loss and the loves you left behind.

Sadness will not even describe the feelings. i did not run into her often, after I left Orange City. When I did she made you feel as if you just talked to her yesterday. Joann and Casey, much love and healing to you and Kelly’s girls during this time. Kelly always had a smile to share and love love loved you so much. Her care for you especially Casey was always so strong and evident. I last saw her at the birthday party she put on for you, and was happy to share a hug and reminisce about your childhood. I had the honor of having Kelly Jo as a student when she decided to go back to school. Kelly Jo was always a bright light the moment she came into a room. She was very dedicated to her studies as she wanted to set a good example for her daughters whom she spoke of often and loved so much. Kelly Jo stayed in touch after graduation, sharing her new journeys in life and helping where she could. I even remember her offering to bring me soup when I she found out I had been sick. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her daughters and the family. I hope you know how much your mom meant to so many people and she will truly be missed. If we can do anything, please let us know.

I was honored to be Kelly Jo’s professor when she decided to go back to school. She was always a bright light in the classroom, upbeat, positive and a mentor to many. She was so proud of going back to school and being able to be a role model for her daughters whom she spoke of often and loved very much. After graduation, Kelly Jo stayed in touch, she was always willing to help where she could. I even remember her offering to bring me soup not all that long ago when she found out that I had been under the weather for awhile. Our thoughts go out to her Jessica and Jamey and the family. If we can do anything, please let us know.

We would like to honor you daughter Sgt. Kelly Jo Brubaker on Sunday the 8th during our annual worldwide candle lighting event for parents who have lost children. This years event will be held at Sunsplash Park at 6:30 pm. My daughter Sarah died by suicide and many other parents in our group experienced child loss by suicide. My Sarah was a nurse. I hope someone reads this before Sunday because we’d like to put Kelly Jo’s name on one of the lanterns we are releasing if that’s okay. Your family is more than welcome to join us. We planned to have our event at this park on the beach the same as we did last year. My phone number is +13862908752 and you may call for details or just to talk. My heart goes out to you, as I have experienced the same with my daughter.
