Jewel E. Driggers, 100, of Apopka, Florida, peacefully slipped away on Sunday, August 25, 2019.
The youngest of eleven children, she was born on April 06, 1919 in Coffee County, Alabama to the late Issac and Sarah Ellen (Heath) Wooten. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Apopka.
She and the love of her life, Ernest, married on June 29, 1940 and moved to the Orlando area to begin their life together. Her love of children and family, working in her gardens and traveling in their motor home were the highlights of her life. Jewel was always ready for a funny story, a road trip or a gathering of some sort. Her strong faith in the Lord gave her strength and love of laughter and family kept her young.
She grew up on a farm in Coffee County, Alabama, and after moving to Florida in 1940, she worked in the citrus industry and retail fabrics but her favorite and happiest times were caring for children in her home – she was “Nannie Driggers” – to many precious little ones before her retirement to Apopka in 1982.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Ernest Driggers, her ten siblings and their spouses. Jewel is survived by her daughter, Patsy Cumbie of Apopka; granddaughter Allison Cumbie of Ocala, Florida; grandson Wes (Emily) Cumbie of Auburn, Alabama and four great grandchildren – Ella Jewel, Shepherd, Alice Anne and June. Sisters-in-law, Marjorie Walraven of Watkinsville, Georgia; JoAnn Whitelaw of Deerfield Beach, Florida and several nieces and nephews survive her.
Funeral services for Jewel will be held at Loomis Funeral Home in Apopka on Thursday, August 29, 2019, visitation will be at 11:00 am with service immediately following at noon.

James Lolley says
Patsey I so sorry I won’t be able to to attend.
I think of her often. Uncle Charles used to to tell me of their long conversations on the phone. I remember you and Aunt Jewel coming to Granny Lolleys house when I was real little and wanted to take me with y’all but wouldn’t go. I know that one time I did stay with her we talked the whole evening. She was a wonderful Aunt.
Always in my heart
