If ever a man ever loved his family it was Steve. He loved Paula and the kids like no other! Some people bring a light so bright to the world, that even after they’ve gone, their light still shines. That’s what kind of husband and father Steve was. I’m proud to call him my brother in law and friend.

Real superstars shine so bright they never fade away, even after they’re gone. That’s my brother Steve Parker, a real superstar… Alot of people don’t know about this part of his life but aside from slalom water-sking and jumping the wake at the mere age of 8 years old, Steve was one of the fastest freestyle swimmers around and was destined for greatness in the sport of swimming. He was an all-american swimmer 2 yrs. in a row at William R. Boone high- school. Steve was offered “full-boat” scholarships from numerous reputable colleges. As a freshman at the University of South Carolina, Steve placed 2nd at Nationals in the 50 yard freestyle…in other words, Steve was the 2nd fastest swimmer in the 50 free in the entire United States!!! He was a super-nova burning oh so bright!!! He was at his best in the water, anything water. You should have seen him water-ski, holy smokes!!! I remember in 1977 when he bought his first “real” slalom ski, an EP that cost almost $200 (alot of bread in ’77 ). If it could be done on a water-ski, Steve did it.I spent many summers on Lake Conway watching my big brother rip it up with close friends. All his friends were really good skiers but they couldn’t shred like Steve. You know those inner-tubes they sell now days with the handles on them? Well technically Steve and friends(Terry Cascadine, Neil Johnstone, Steve and Frank Trespasso,) well they invented it in the summer of ’77, I know cause I was there. They took a gigantic tractor-tire inner-tube and strapped a harness-seatbelt around one end then had a knotted piece of rope or beach towel tied to the seatbelt strap for a handle. Then have a ski-rope running from the boat to the seatbelt tied to the tube. These guys were pure dare-devils, especially behind Trespasso’s boat, 16′ center console Boston Whaler with an Evinrude 135 Starflight on the back!!! 65mph really fast being the boat was only rated for a 100 , not a high-output 135!!! Of course it had a reinforced transom with power trim. These guys were performing acts on that tube that were unheard of much less seen on water in those days. They WERE truly the kings of Lake Conway , in a time where life was great and dreams were endless. Priceless are those fond memories of my brother always showing off his skills on the lake…cut-backs on the outside whip, shooting off 30 foot sprays so hard that his elbow use to skim the water..I remember it like it was yesterday. Life is so short, like a fleeting glimpse of those precious memories, here one minute gone the next. Like my brother, here one minute gone the next. Miss you Steve, your brother Tim.

Another year passing without my brother…grim indeed. Time only heals physical wounds. My only regret is not spending more time in the latter years hangin’ out with my big brother. Life is so short and precious. I cherish the memories of the little time we got to spend together on this tiny planet. You will always be my big brother, in my heart and forever emb edded in my soul. God bless you Steve. Love Tim.
