If it’s true that people will forget much of what someone does or says but will remember how they made you feel, then Lamar will be solidly remembered and by many, many people. Lamar accepted me into his family easily, as he did so many other people. I remember as a young person in my early 20’s over at the house at all hours of the night and he is treating me like I was one of his kids. When I realized the truth of that acceptance and the affection that came with it I was humbled. That moment he, and all of the Davis family, locked within my heart as family…. as blood. How did he make me feel? In that way that was Lamar, and only Lamar, he made me feel loved and accepted and that will always be my memory of him. I will grieve his passing for a long time. I also celebrate the end to his fight with cancer. His suffering is done and that knowledge is far more reaching to me than my grief will ever be. Good bye for now Mr. Davis…. and thank you. You may never have heard me say it here, but I loved you good sir. My sympathies to all the family and friends.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Growing up in Apopka, I have the fondest memories of Lamar who was the big brother to my best friend Mike. Today I grieve with the Davis family, but today I also celebrate the “blessed assurance” that Lamar is reunited with his dear sweet Mom who was my second mother. May God’s grace and peace shower you as you celebrate Tommy’s life. Peace be with you!
