Bernard R. Juskie (“Bernie”) passed away peacefully in his home on September 16, 2019 with his beloved wife by his side. Bernie was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 14, 1932. Bernie earned a bachelor’s degree from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy and a master’s degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. After receiving his master’s degree, he worked for the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute where he was on a team that helped to develop the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.
Bernie was a successful engineer at Continental Can Company. He was selected by the company to attend the Harvard Business School for Advanced Management, after which his focus turned to business management. After leaving Continental Can, he moved to Florida to run Sardee Industries, and was later recruited to be the Vice President of Dayton Reliable Tool in Dayton Ohio, the company that created the pop top can. Bernie then returned to Florida where finished his career running Florida operations for Somec Corporation.
In retirement, Bernie taught aeronautical engineering at Embry Riddle University. He was also passionate about golf, wood working and photography.
Bernie’s greatest joy came from his family. He met the love of his wife, Dorothy, at a community dance. They were married for 63 years. They had two children, Bob (Lori) Juskie and Jodi Juskie, and three grandchildren, Nick Juskie, Courtney Juskie, and Jack Thorne.
A man of great faith, Bernie devoted himself to his Lord. His devotion began as a young altar boy and continued throughout his life. He was instrumental in organizing what may be a first ever alter boy reunion in Las Vegas.
He will be missed by his loving family and many friends.
A funeral mass will be held on September 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 836 South Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society in the name of Bernard Juskie.

Bob Kamm says
Dear Mrs. Juskie,
For some reason I was googling, and Bernie came to mind. We were colleagues at IITRI and at Continental Can. He and I used to play tennis after work.
He was a great gentleman.
I am so sorry to learn of his passing.
I send you and the rest of your family my deepest sympathy.
Sincerely,
Bob Kamm

Keith Wagner says
Always respected that Bernie took the time to call me while I was still in College in the fall of 1970 to personally discuss my offer
to start work at CCC the following January.
CCC was in a decline and he needed to recind the offer, due to extensive layoffs that were occurring.
A true gentleman!
